Disease of Sin

Written by: John Sernaque

Dear Reader,

We are barely into the year of our Lord 2020 and a new deadly virus is spreading like wildfire. Thousands have been infected and hundreds have perished from what is now known as the Coronavirus. The entire Chinese population has been quarantined, and all of its citizens are walking around wearing hospital masks. However, it has not been contained as numerous cases have been reported outside of China and throughout the world. The financial markets are on a downward spiral for fear of how the virus will affect the economies of the world. The Bible prophesies of pestilences (diseases) in divers places. We are certainly living in the last days. The time is now to turn to Jesus before your salvation wastes away before your very eyes. Jesus, and only Jesus and His truth saves.

And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people.

And his fame went throughout all Syria: and they brought unto him all sick people that were taken with divers diseases and torments, and those which were possessed with devils, and those which were lunatic, and those that had the palsy; and he healed them. Matthew 4:23-24

There will be no disease, illnesses or sickness in Heaven. Jesus is the Great Physician. He knows what we are in need of. He will not prescribe numerous pills with side effects worse than the sickness itself. He will not give you endless fad diets that come and go, causing more harm than good. He but asks that you come to Him in prayer and lay all your burdens at the foot of the cross.

And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. Revelation 21:4

So, if you place your trust and faith in Christ Jesus, He will cure all manner of disease. Just as in Heaven, so shall it be on earth. Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him. After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as [it is] in heaven. Matthew 6:8-10

And he touched her hand, and the fever left her: and she arose, and ministered unto them.

When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with [his] word, and healed all that were sick: That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare [our] sicknesses. Matthew 8:15-17

God loves us so much. He gives us everything we need. Air to breathe, sunshine for life, the herbs of the fields and fruit of the tree. Everything we need for good health. But most of all, He gave us His son. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16. The everlasting gospel contains all of the health principles we will ever need here on earth and along the path that leads to heaven. But we will need the heavenly eye salve to see that which man does not see to take the road less traveled.

When he had thus spoken, he spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and he anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay, And said unto him, Go, wash in the pool of Siloam, (which is by interpretation, Sent.) He went his way therefore, and washed, and came seeing. John 9:6-7

I the LORD have called thee in righteousness, and will hold thine hand, and will keep thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles; To open the blind eyes, to bring out the prisoners from the prison, [and] them that sit in darkness out of the prison house. And I will bring the blind by a way [that] they knew not; I will lead them in paths [that] they have not known: I will make darkness light before them, and crooked things straight. These things will I do unto them, and not forsake them. Hear, ye deaf; and look, ye blind, that ye may see. Isaiah 42:6,7,16,18

Man does not see that the worst illness, disease, or virus, is the sickness of sin. It is like a cancer, which lurks in the internal darkness of man and quickly spreads out of control. Is there a cure for sin? Yes, the cure is found in the Holy Bible, the Word of God. It is a total surrender of self to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Without a total surrender to Christ Jesus, sin will take over one’s entire being to the point the victim does not even recognize or is able to identify what sin is. Sin is the transgression of the law, and the wages of sin is death. What a horrible way to die. Thank God for the victory that Jesus won for you and for me. He overcame sin and all of the temptations Satan threw at Him that we should not die, but live. Confess and repent of your sins that you may be made whole.

Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee. John 5:14

There is a divinely appointed connection between sin and disease. No physician can practice for a month without seeing this illustrated. He may ignore the fact; his mind may be so occupied with other matters that his attention will not be called to it; but if he will be observing and honest he cannot help acknowledging that sin and disease bear to each other the relationship of cause and effect. The physician should be quick to see this and to act accordingly. When he has gained the confidence of the afflicted by relieving their sufferings and bringing them back from the verge of the grave, he may teach them that disease is the result of sin and that it is the fallen foe who seeks to allure them to health-and-soul-destroying practices. He may impress their minds with the necessity of denying self and obeying the laws of life and health. In the minds of the young especially he may instill right principles. God loves His creatures with a love that is both tender and strong. He has established the laws of nature, but His laws are not arbitrary exactions. Every “Thou shalt not,” whether in physical or moral law, contains or implies a promise. If it is obeyed, blessings will attend our steps; if it is disobeyed, the result is danger and unhappiness. The laws of God are designed to bring His people closer to Himself. He will save them from the evil and lead them to the good if they will be led, but force them He never will. We cannot discern God’s plans, but we must trust Him and show our faith by our works. {5T 444.2}

God gives us His promises and His promises are sure. Remember, with these promises come the conditions which are required for God’s promises to be fulfilled in our lives. They are straightforward and simple to understand. The difficult part is trying to abide by these conditions in our own strength. The solution and healing comes not in your strength, but by the strength and courage given to us from Heaven above. Not my will, but let Thy will be done.

We Gain Victory in His Power—The issue of the battle does not rest upon the strength of mortal man. “The Lord shall go forth as a mighty man, he shall stir up jealousy like a man of war: he shall cry, yea, roar; he shall prevail against his enemies.” Isaiah 42:13. In the power of Him who rides forth conquering and to conquer, weak, finite man may gain the victory (Manuscript 151, 1899). {4BC 1146.3}

And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I [am] the LORD that healeth thee. Exodus 15:26

And Pharaoh said, Who [is] the LORD, that I should obey his voice to let Israel go? I know not the LORD, neither will I let Israel go. Exodus 5:2

Will you continue in your way? Will you reject the truth? Will you choose death over life? Will you harden your heart like Pharaoh and be blinded by the world around you? Brothers and sisters, the world is not your friend. The ruler of this world is Satan. If you drift away from the Word of God, you will certainly be caught in one of Satan’s snares, one that he has custom made just for you. Rebuke Satan and he will flee from you. Keep your eyes on Jesus and He will make you free of the most deadly disease called sin. Will you pray that God heals you? I pray that you will.

My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. For they [are] life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh. Proverbs 4:20-22

Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth. For I rejoiced greatly, when the brethren came and testified of the truth that is in thee, even as thou walkest in the truth. 3 John 1: 2-3
