Does God Hear Your Prayers?

Written by: John Sernaque

Dear Reader.

Books / Pr - Prayer (2002) / Chapter 7—Prayer And Obedience

We Are to Believe God Hears and Then Live Out Our Prayers—Children and youth may come to Jesus with their burdens and perplexities, and know that He will respect their appeals to Him, and give them the very things they need. Be earnest; be resolute. Present the promise of God, and then believe without a doubt. Do not wait to feel special emotions before you think the Lord answers. Do not mark out some particular way that the Lord must work for you before you believe you receive the things you ask of Him; but trust His word, and leave the whole matter in the hands of the Lord, with full faith that your prayer will be honored, and the answer will come at the very time and in the very way your heavenly Father sees is for your good; and then live out your prayers. Walk humbly and keep moving forward.—(Messages to Young People, 123.) {Pr 68.3}

We must walk by faith and not by sight, for the things seen are temporal, but the things unseen are eternal. We are to believe that God hears and answers our prayers. Perhaps not in the way and time which we would like, but in the way that is for our good. Lay all your cares and burdens at the foot of His throne and He will give you rest. Call on His promises and believe without any doubt that He will fulfill His promises. When you leave your prayer closet, walk away believing that your prayer has been answered. Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus.

Our kind and gracious Father,

We come to the foot of Your throne in prayer and thanksgiving. We thank You for being so good to us. Thank You for giving us Your Word to live by. We thank You for all Your wonderful promises You have given us to claim. We come to You as little children who do not know how to come in or go out. We are helpless without Your kind and gentle hand leading us on the strait path that leads to heaven. We surrender our life to You and pray that You use us as Your vessels. Anoint us with Your Holy Spirit. Fill us and may our cup runneth over to impart Your oil unto those in need. We know we are in need of a Savior and pray that You save us. We pray for Your help to prepare and be ready for Your great day to come. We pray to all be ready, standing together under one accord with each other and with You. We pray to see You coming in the clouds, with our lamps trimmed and burning, ready to be translated into heaven by Your heavenly host. We pray not to see the first death while we wait for Your second advent. We pray that while we wait You lift all our burdens and perplexities from us. We at times become weary and heavy-laden and pray that You give us rest. We believe without a doubt, trust in You and place all our matters in Your right hand of power. Please help us through our trials and tribulations. Grant us peace and comfort in our times of trouble. We pray that You lift us out of our pit to walk in the newness of life. We pray that You never let go of us, as we will never let go of You. Abide in us that we may abide in You. We thank You for hearing and answering our prayers, in the name of Christ Jesus, we pray. Amen.
