Going Viral

Written by: John Sernaque

Dear Reader,

The United States has recently taken measures to contain the Corona virus, a flu virus which has turned into a worldwide pandemic. A State of Emergency has been declared by President Trump, and there have been travel restrictions initiated, limiting people from traveling into the United States. My place of employment has also provided all employees the option of working from home to limit person to person contact. This is all prudent, but has it been timely? Time will tell for some. But, it is those who have been pro- active in maintaining their health and immune system that stand the best chance of healing if they contract this potentially deadly virus. If you look in the Bible, God outlined His health principles for us early on in the book of Leviticus Chapters 13-15. At first sign of an infection, the person was to see the Priest to be examined. They were then to go outside of the camp (quarantined) for the next seven days. On the seventh day, they were to be re-examined by the Priest. If the symptoms did not worsen, they were to spend an additional seven days outside of the camp. Again, on the seventh day, another examination was performed. Only then, if the person did not show any signs of worsening and signs of well- being, they were declared clean. The separation from others was the key to minimizing the spreading of the disease. Sadly, there are worse diseases that run rampant throughout the world. What is the worst disease that plagues humanity? It is sin. Humanity chooses not to separate themselves from sin, rather, chooses to separate themselves from God. What a tragedy.

Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean [thing]; and I will receive you, And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty. 2 Corinthians 6:17-18

The medical establishment and the Center for Disease Control attributes the transmission of this pathogen (a bacterium, virus, or other microorganism that can cause disease) as having been transferred from animal to human through contact and consumption. This is not the first case of a flu virus being transmitted from an animal to a human. We have had the bird flu, swine flu, mad cow disease, and Ebola, just to name a few, which have infected millions of people and caused millions of deaths. The Bible explains the conditions whereby we are to consume animal products. They are required to be “clean”, meaning they are to have a cloven hoof and chew the cud. Fowls are to be foraging birds, and not the predatory nor scavenging kind. Fish are to have fins and scales and not be the bottom dwellers, scavengers, nor with the shell. Other criteria was that humans were not to eat of the blood, fat, nor the inwards of these animals. It is the blood of Jesus that covers our sins (fat) and it is His character that we take on when He gives us a new heart (inward).

For the life of the flesh [is] in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it [is] the blood [that] maketh an atonement for the soul. Leviticus 17:11

For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. Matthew 26:28

But the wicked shall perish, and the enemies of the LORD [shall be] as the fat of lambs: they shall consume; into smoke shall they consume away. Psalm 37:20

And the fat of the sin offering shall he burn upon the altar. Leviticus 16:25

Their heart is as fat as grease; [but] I delight in thy law. Psalm 119:70

A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. Ezekiel 36:26

The animals were not to be diseased either. Did Jesus eat fish? Yes, He ate fish without blood and not from the polluted waters whereby people today get their fish. Yes, those fish hatcheries are also full of bacteria that will make you sick. The mercury levels in fish today are poisonous and deadly. There is a differentiation and clear distinction between the “clean” and “unclean” animals. As a result of the flood and the decimation of plant life, a season was provided for the consumption of clean animals till the plant life and vegetation had time to grow back and cover the earth. Yet humans have continued in their ways and disregarded the way of God. How did humanity get so far from the Bible truths and health principles? They have strayed from honoring God and His commandments. The two tables of stones, whereupon God wrote with His own finger the Ten Commandments, are inside the Ark of the Covenant, which is found in the Most Holy Place of the Heavenly Sanctuary. The way to the Heavenly Sanctuary is found through Christ Jesus. Jesus spent as much time on this earth in healing as He did preaching. Let the Bible lead your way.

Thy way, O God, [is] in the sanctuary: who [is so] great a God as [our] God? Psalms 77:13

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. John 14:6

The Bible will prepare and help you improve your health and well- being. We are to eat to live, and not, live to eat. Instead of watching your weight, watch your health. There is a simple acronym for you to follow and be on your way to a new healthy you. N-E-W-S-T-A-R-T.

Nutrition- we have touched on the clean and the unclean. Follow God’s original diet to improve your immune system and rid yourself of all disease. In the Bible context, meat means food.

And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which [is] upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which [is] the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat. Genesis 1:29

And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field… Genesis 2:5

Exercise- if you work a desk job, walk around, walk after lunch, get your exercise in before, during, or after work.

Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: Exodus 20:9

Water- most bodily functions require water for maintenance and to work properly. Stay hydrated and make sure you get your daily drink of the living water.

Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water. John 4:10

Sunshine- get your daily dose of sunlight and soak in that Vitamin D. Don’t over do it, see temperance.

For the LORD God [is] a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good [thing] will he withhold from them that walk uprightly. Psalms 84:11

Temperance- even too much of a good thing can be harmful.

And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they [do it] to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible. 1 Corinthians 9:25

Air- Make sure to get fresh air every day. It is good for thy soul.

And the LORD God formed man [of] the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. Genesis 2:7

Rest- Re-energize and re-store your mind, body, and soul with rest and adequate sleep. Most importantly, spend time with God by meditating on His Word. God has set aside, hallowed and sanctified, the Seventh Day Sabbath for this purpose.

But the seventh day [is] the sabbath of the LORD thy God: [in it] thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that [is] within thy gates: For [in] six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them [is], and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it. Exodus 20:10-11

Trust In God- Last, but not least, is to trust in God. He is thy maker, thy creator, without Him nothing is possible. Trust that He will heal you if you follow His instruction.

O LORD of hosts, blessed [is] the man that trusteth in thee. Psalms 84:12

I pray that you will let the Word of God bless you in all ways. Ask God for help and he will deliver you. Do not rely on your own strength, but only on the One who loves you and will be with you till the end of the world. Stay healthy and stay strong. And remember, the truth saves.

And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.

Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, [even] unto the end of the world. Amen. Matthew 28:18-20
