Dear Reader,
Books / Pr - Prayer (2002) / Chapter 6—The Prayer Of Faith
Our Lives Are to Be in Harmony With Our Petitions—Pray in faith. And be sure to bring your lives into harmony with your petitions, that you may receive the blessings for which you pray. Let not your faith weaken, for the blessings received are proportionate to the faith exercised. “According to your faith be it unto you.”“All things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.” Matthew 9:29}
God Accepts the Prayer of Faith—The humble, intelligent prayer of faith, that comes from unfeigned lips, is wholly acceptable to God. It is the heart-felt prayer that is heard in heaven and rewarded by an answer on earth. “But to this man will I look, even to him that is poor, and of a contrite spirit, and that trembleth at my word.”“For thus saith the high and lofty One, that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and a humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.”“The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.”(The Signs of the Times, December 3, 1896.) {Pr 55.2}
You can spend all your time praying, but if you are living a life of sin, your words will fall to the ground and God will not hear. One must confess and truly repent of their sins for God’s merciful ear to hear their cries. God knows what it feels like to hurt and welcomes the voice of a contrite and humble spirit. When we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us of our sins, and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. We are to pray in faith that God will blot out our sins, just as He has promised. Pray in faith, believing that you will receive all the blessings for which you pray.
Our Father, Almighty God,
We come to Your throne with contrite and humble spirits. We thank You for the privilege and gift of prayer, our lifeline to You in heaven. You inhabit all eternity, and dwell in the High and Holy place yet still allow us to commune with You through prayer. You grant us Power from on High that restores us and revives our broken spirit and broken and contrite hearts, which You will not despise. We faithfully pray for the continual outpouring of the Holy Spirit to lead us and guide us in the way we should go. We sometimes fall off the path; and have made mistakes in our life. We confess we are sinners, and are truly sorry and humbly repent of all our sins. We pray for Your forgiveness, and that You cleanse us from all unrighteousness, wash us clean in the blood of Christ. We pray for Your help in bringing our lives in harmony with our petitions that we can receive the blessings for which we pray. Help us to keep our faith strong; believing that whatsoever we ask, we shall receive. We thank You for making the ultimate sacrifice on our behalf, and through all that man put You through, they could not break Your Spirit. We pray for the Spirit to abide in us that we may abide in You. We pray that You mold us into the creature You created in Your own image, spotless, without blemish, and blameless. Create a clean heart in us, Oh God, and renew a right spirit within us. Let this mind be in us, which is also in Christ Jesus. We pray You accept our prayer of faith as sweet incense from our lips even as if they were coming from Yours. Bless us and keep us, in the name of Christ Jesus, we pray. Amen.
