Call to Worship

1 Corinthians 6: 19-20

6:19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost [which is] in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?

6:20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.

God Claims the Heart’s Throne—

God has bought us, and He claims a throne in each heart. Our minds and bodies must be subordinated to Him, and the natural habits and appetites must be made subservient to the higher wants of the soul. But we can place no dependence upon ourselves in this work. We cannot with safety follow our own guidance. The Holy Spirit must renew and sanctify us. In God’s service there must be no halfway work. (SpT, Series A, No. 7, p. 39). {6BC 1088.5}

Daniel and the three Hebrew boys would not defile themselves with the Kings Meat and wine. Neither should we. Flesh foods and alcohol need not be part of our diets. More and more studies conclude that a plant-based diet is healthier and promotes longevity, as on average plant based eaters live longer and healthier lives. The Bible says, Wine [is] a mocker, strong drink [is] raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise. Proverbs 20:1. We are to take care of the temple that God has given us stewardship over. The Bible has given us instruction on what we need to know regarding this. For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's. Amen.

Our Father, which art in heaven,

We come to the foot of Your throne and glorify You in our bodies and in our spirit’s, for that which You claim, our heart’s throne. We are Your loyal servants, are subservient to Your will, and pray that we may take care of the temples You have given to us. Please grant us the strength and power to resist our own wants and place Yours higher than ours. We pray that the Holy Spirit will renew and sanctify us. The Bible says in 1 Corinthians 10:31 Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God. However, we need Your help, as we cannot do this by our own strength. Help us not defile our minds and bodies, but let the Holy Spirit be the throne of our heart. We pray that we may present ourselves to You a living sacrifice, as heirs to the Royal Family, holy and acceptable unto You, which is our reasonable service. We thank You for hearing and answering our prayers, in the name of Christ Jesus, we pray. Amen.

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, [which is] your reasonable service. Romans 12:1
