John 14:12-14
14:12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater [works] than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.
14:13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
14:14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do [it].
The Lord is disappointed when His people place a low estimate upon themselves. He desires His chosen heritage to value themselves according to the price He has placed upon them. God wanted them, else He would not have sent His Son on such an expensive errand to redeem them. He has a use for them, and He is well pleased when they make the very highest demands upon Him, that they may glorify His name. They may expect large things if they have faith in His promises. —The Desire of Ages, 668
Verily I say unto you, If you have faith, and doubt not, you shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if you shall say unto this mountain, Be removed, and be cast into the sea; it shall be done. He that believes and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believes not shall be damned. Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and you shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. And all things, whatsoever you shall ask in prayer, believing, you shall receive. Therefore I say unto you, What things soever you desire, when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you shall have them. If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, you shall ask what you will, and it shall be done unto you. You have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that you should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever you shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you. Hitherto have you asked nothing in my name: ask, and you shall receive, that your joy may be full. And whatsoever we ask, we receive of Him, because we keep His commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in His sight. If you love me, keep my commandments.
Jesus paid the price for the ultimate sacrifice on our behalf. It is His desire that we come to Him in faith, as He wants us, claiming all His wonderful promises. When we place our highest demands upon Him, we will glorify the Father in His name. In so doing, we may expect great things. If we ask anything in His name, He promises He will do. We are granted this power by His mercy and grace, and the Lord is disappointed when we place such a low value on ourselves. We are His people and should not look at ourselves as grasshoppers but rather as giants and heirs of His heavenly kingdom. Look to Jesus and believe on Him as our great intercessor to the Father which art in heaven.
Our Father, which art in heaven,
We come into Your presence, on our knees, in thanksgiving, praise, and prayer. We thank You for the price You paid on our behalf. For coming to this earth and the great suffering You endured so that we may be saved from our sins. We thank You for always being with us, as You have promised never to leave us nor forsake us. Thank You for being our advocate and intercessor to the Father in heaven. Thank You for all Your wonderful promises that are always there for all Your children to claim. We believe on You and all Your promises, that whatsoever we ask in Your name, that You will do. We are eternally grateful for such a high value You place on us, and for making us heirs to the Royal Family. We pray that by Your mercy and grace, that we may continue to receive Your power from on high and continue to expect great things from You. We pray for the continual outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon us. Abide in us that we may abide in You. Help us as we go forward and bring forth fruit, and that our fruit should remain. Let Your children ask and receive, that their joy may be full, because we keep Your commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in Your sight. We are truly sorry and humbly repent of our sins. We ask for the forgiveness of our sins, the known and the unknown. Wash us clean in the redeeming blood of Christ Jesus and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Save us that one day we will be with You in heaven where we can continue to glorify Your name. Heal us, Oh Lord, and we shall be healed. Save us and we shall be saved, for Thou art our praise. We thank You and praise You, and it is in the precious name of Christ Jesus, our Lord and Savior and Master, we pray. Amen.
