The Christian Will Not Drink

Dear Readers,

This post will be on the short side and may be updated in the future. I just wanted to list some key points in defending the Biblical view on Alcohol/Wine drinking. Lets get right to the heart of it shall we. The primary objection to Christians refraining from drinking wine and alcohol is that “Jesus drank wine!” Is that so? Here are some key points that lay to rest the notion that Jesus drunk wine:

1. Proverbs 20:1 states that whoever is deceived by wine is not wise. Jesus was wise and thus He did not drink wine.

2. Micah 2:11 states that false prophets condone the drinking of wine. Jesus was a true prophet and thus did not drink.

3. Jesus said in Matthew 9:17 that His teachings are like new wine, which is grape juice according to Isaiah 65:8, so why would Jesus (the teacher) drink old wine?

4. Matthew 26:28-29- Jesus says that New Wine is the beverage of the New Heavens and the New Earth and it only goes to follow that He would begin the New Covenant with New Wine, which is grape juice.
