Watchmen On The Wall

Dear Reader,

We must seek to attain and remain in victory over sin. It seems like a recurring theme, but there is an urgent reason for this. It is our warning to take heed, lest ye fall. Sin is what separates us from God. Prayers will go unheard, and unanswered, if you continue in your sin without confession, repentance, and asking God for forgiveness. Be clear, confession is not to any man, pastor, or priest, it is to Christ Jesus as our great intercessor. We can go straight to Jesus to petition the throne of grace.

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. John 14:6

Overcoming sin is as much a lesson for us today as it was in the day of the prophet Isaiah. As the condition of the people in his day, we find the present state of humanity still transgressing the laws of God and His Commandments. God desires us to come to Him, just the way we are, but with contrite souls. He but wants us to reach out and grab the compassion and mercy He offers to every believing child of God. Why not take the opportunity you have today to receive the free gift of salvation.

Behold, the LORD'S hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear:

But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid [his] face from you, that he will not hear. Isaiah 59: 1-2

Once you take your leap of faith, inevitably there will come hate from the wicked around you. You may be mocked and ridiculed for your beliefs. As Jesus was hated, you will be hated the same. Fear not, for the angels of the Lord are encamped all around us. We have the Holy Spirit, who is available to all who ask. No need to retaliate, for judgement and vengeance is of the Lord’s.

If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before [it hated] you. He that hateth me hateth my Father also. But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, [even] the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me: And ye also shall bear witness, because ye have been with me from the beginning. John 15: 18, 23, 26, 27

For the day of vengeance [is] in mine heart, and the year of my redeemed is come. Isaiah 63: 4

Yea, truth faileth; and he [that] departeth from evil maketh himself a prey: and the LORD saw [it], and it displeased him that [there was] no judgment. And he saw that [there was] no man, and wondered that [there was] no intercessor: therefore his arm brought salvation unto him; and his righteousness, it sustained him. For he put on righteousness as a breastplate, and an helmet of salvation upon his head; and he put on the garments of vengeance [for] clothing, and was clad with zeal as a cloak. Isaiah 59: 15-17

The condition of the world previous to the first appearing of Christ is a picture of the condition of the world just previous to His second advent. The same iniquity will exist, Satan manifests the same delusive power upon the minds of men. He is setting his trained agents at work, and moving them to intense activity. He is securing his army of human agents to engage in the last conflict against the Prince of life, to overthrow the law of God, which is the foundation of His throne. Satan will work with miraculous presentations to confirm men in the belief that he is what he claims to be,—the prince of this world, and that victory is his. He will turn his forces against those who are loyal to God, but though he may cause pain, distress, and human agony, he cannot defile the soul. He may cause affliction to the people of God as he did to Christ, but he cannot cause one of Christ’s little ones to perish. The people of God in these last days must expect to enter into the thick of the conflict; for the prophetic Word says, “The dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ” (Letter 43, 1895). {4BC 1153.2}

We are to continue forward proclaiming the everlasting gospel. We are to be the watchmen on the wall. The stumbling blocks which Satan casts in front of our brethren are to be cast off and cleared out of the way of our brothers and sisters. We must help them loosen the chains that bind them in prison. We must help them say no to the evil warden of their prison, Satan. Help remove the dark clouds, that they may see the bright rays of the glory of God to all that are willing to receive Him.

Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, [even] thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows. Hebrews 1:9

The spirit of the Lord GOD [is] upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to [them that are] bound; To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn; To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified. Isaiah 61: 1-3

The Lord is not pleased to have His people a band of mourners. He wants them to repent of their sins, that they may enjoy the liberty of the sons of God. Then they will be filled with the praises of God, and will be a blessing to others. The Lord Jesus was anointed also “to appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garments of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that He might be glorified.” { 4BC 1153.6 }

“That He,” Christ Jesus, “might be glorified”—O that this might be the purpose of our lives! Then we should have regard even to the expression of our countenance, to our words, and even to the tone of our voice when we speak. All our business transactions would be wrought in faith and integrity. Then would the world be convinced that there is a people that are loyal to the God of heaven.... { 4BC 1154.1 }

God calls for all to come into harmony with Himself. He will receive them if they will put away their evil actions. By a union with the divine nature of Christ, they may escape the corrupting influences of this world. It is time for every one of us to decide whose side we are on. The agencies of Satan will work with every mind that will allow itself to be worked by him. But there are also heavenly agencies waiting to communicate the bright rays of the glory of God to all that are willing to receive Him. It is truth that we want, precious truth in all its loveliness. Truth will bring liberty and gladness (Manuscript 43, 1908). { 4BC 1154.2 }

Jesus said that if ye continue in His Word, ye shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free. Who can say they don’t want to be free. Free from sin and all of its consequences. Why not let God mold you and shape you and bring you into harmony with Himself. Surrender your life to Jesus and He will make you free.

But now, O LORD, thou [art] our father; we [are] the clay, and thou our potter; and we all [are] the work of thy hand. Isaiah 64:8
