Words Mean Much

Proverbs 12:17-19

12:17 [He that] speaketh truth showeth forth righteousness: but a false witness deceit.

12:18 There is that speaketh like the piercings of a sword: but the tongue of the wise [is] health.

12:19 The lip of truth shall be established for ever: but a lying tongue [is] but for a moment.

Words Mean Much—The voice and tongue are gifts from God, and if rightly used, they are a power for God. Words mean very much. They may express love, devotion, praise, melody to God, or hatred and revenge. Words reveal the sentiments of the heart. They may be a savor of life unto life or of death unto death. The tongue is a world of blessing, or a world of iniquity (Manuscript 40, 1896). { 3BC 1159.2 }

The Word of God is our only sure guarantee in life. If we speak according to His word, there is light in us that will therefore show forth the righteousness of God. Stray from the Word of God and you may be a savor of death unto death. We do have a stern duty, one to another, but must speak to and deal with each other in kindness. We are to express the love that God has blessed us with. Sharp words pierce like a sword. Be not wise in thine own eyes, fear the Lord and depart from evil. It shall be health to thy navel and marrow to thy bones. The tongue of the wise is health and out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. Ask God for a new heart, and establish His truth forever.

Our Father, God Almighty,

We thank You and praise You for giving us Your Word. The Holy Bible is a lamp unto our feet, to lead us and guide us along the path that You have set before us. Help us stay on the path and if we stumble, help us right ourselves according to Your Word. Give us the words to speak that we may reflect Your character unto this dark world. Help us to express love, devotion, praise and melody to You. Help us establish Your truth to others with the words we speak, give us power from on High. We repent of our sins and pray for forgiveness. Let us be Your vessels to establish Your truth forever. We thank You and praise You. In the name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
