Call to Worship

Galatians 6:7

Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.

Christ Object Lessons 84.3

Every seed sown produces a harvest of its kind. So it is in human life. We all need to sow the seeds of compassion, sympathy, and love; for we shall reap what we sow. Every characteristic of selfishness, self-love, self-esteem, every act of self-indulgence, will bring forth a like harvest. He who lives for self is sowing to the flesh, and of the flesh he will reap corruption. {COL 84.3}

In the book of Galatians, Chapter 5, the Bible says that we are to walk in the Spirit and not in the flesh. The flesh lusteth against the Spirit and the Spirit against the flesh. Verses 19-21 list all the works of the flesh. Verse 21 tells us that those who do these things, walking in the flesh, shall not inherit the kingdom of God. We are to warn every soul of this danger and call sin by its right name. So, instead of sowing to the flesh and reaping corruption, we are to sow and pray for the fruit of the Spirit as listed in verses 22 and 23, that we may inherit the kingdom of God. Friends, let us pray for the Spirit to lead us and guide us and keep us on a safe path to God’s heavenly kingdom.

Our kind and most gracious Heavenly Father,

We come to Your throne in thanksgiving, praise, and prayer. We pray for the outpouring of Your Holy Spirit upon us. That Your Spirit may live and dwell within us to help us forsake the things of this world, that we walk not in the flesh, but in the Spirit. Lead us and guide us. Grant us Your power that we may sow and reap not corruption, but rather be a manifestation of Your character that one day we will inherit Your kingdom. We repent of our sins and ask for the forgiveness of our sins. Keep us faithful that we may continue on the strait path You have set before us. These things we ask and pray, in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
