Call to Worship

Psalms 121:5

The LORD [is] thy keeper: the LORD [is] thy shade upon thy right hand.

God Comes Near to Supply All Needs—

True happiness may be found in unselfishly striving to help those who need help. God helps the feeble, and strengthens those who have no strength. In the fields where the trials and the conflicts and poverty are the greatest, God’s workmen must have increased protection. To those laboring in the heat of the conflict, God says, “The Lord is thy shade upon thy right hand.” {3BC 1153.7}

Our Lord adapts Himself to our special needs. He is a shade on our right hand. He walks close by our side, ready to supply all our necessities. He comes very near to those who are engaged in willing service for Him. He knows every one by name. O what assurances we have of the tender love of Christ (Manuscript 51, 1903). {3BC 1153.8}

God is especially watchful over those who serve Him day in and day out. God loves all His children. However, for those who are working in the fields where trials and poverty is widespread, He will provide extra protection. Those who selflessly and willingly serve God by helping others in need receive God’s assurance that He will be their shade of protection, being right there beside us in the heat of the battle. He shall give his angels charge over us, to keep us in all our ways. He will be our refuge and fortress. God is our rock, and there is no unrighteousness in Him.

Dear Lord,

We thank You for watching over us and keeping us safe. For providing us Your protection in the fields where we serve You. As we labor in the heat of the battle, for being our shade upon our right hand. For always being right there alongside us ready to supply all our needs. For having Your heavenly angels round about us, as a hedge to keep us safe against the wily foe. For being our keeper, refuge, and fortress. For bringing us happiness by helping others who are in need. For being our rock, where righteousness is found. We thank You and praise You, in the name of Christ Jesus, we pray. Amen.
