Dear Reader,

Books / Pr - Prayer (2002) / Chapter 5—God’s Promises Concerning Prayer

If We Ask, God Will Answer—It is a part of God’s plan to grant us, in answer to the prayer of faith, that which He would not bestow did we not thus ask.—( The Great Controversy, 525.) {Pr 47.3}

God hears prayer. Christ has said, “If ye shall ask anything in My name, I will do it.” Again He says, “If any man serve Me, him will My Father honor.” John 14:14}

As you ask the Lord to help you, honor your Saviour by believing that you do receive His blessing. All power, all wisdom, are at our command. We have only to ask.—(The Ministry of Healing, 514.) {Pr 48.1}

God has a heaven full of blessings that He wants to bestow on those who are earnestly seeking for that help which the Lord alone can give.—( Sons and Daughters of God, 123.) {Pr 48.2}

Jesus Presents Our Poorly Worded Prayers to the Father—Every sincere prayer is heard in heaven. It may not be fluently expressed; but if the heart is in it, it will ascend to the sanctuary where Jesus ministers, and He will present it to the Father without one awkward, stammering word, beautiful and fragrant with the incense of His own perfection.—(The Desire of Ages, 667.) {Pr 48.3}

Strength to Overcome Temptation Given to Those who Pray—All are accountable for their actions while in this world upon probation. All have power to control their actions if they will. If they are weak in virtue and purity of thoughts and acts, they can obtain help from the Friend of the helpless. Jesus is acquainted with all the weaknesses of human nature, and, if entreated, will give strength to overcome the most powerful temptations. All can obtain this strength if they seek for it in humility.—(Child Guidance, 466, 467.) {Pr 48.4}

We have an amazing source of strength and power available to us through our Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus. All are welcome to bring their petitions to the foot of His throne. He has promised that everything we ask in His name, He will do. Even if we do not know what to pray, Christ will pray to the Father a perfect prayer on our behalf. When we are faced with temptation, Christ is there, a friend ready to help. When we are in communion with the Lord, Satan flees. All we have to do is ask in prayer, by faith, believe and you will receive His blessing.

Dear Father in heaven,

We come faithfully in prayer believing that You will hear and answer our prayers. We have all sinned and come short of Your glory. However, You still welcome all Your children to come into Your presence in prayer. We thank You for providing us with a lifeline to heaven, straight to Your throne. We are privileged to commune with You, and pray for You to draw nigh unto us

that we may draw nigh unto You. We pray to receive Your power, strength, courage, wisdom, and understanding to do what is right, favorable, and well pleasing in Your sight. May we honor and glorify Your name, and let not our will, but let thy will be done. We are sorry that we have made mistakes and sinned against You. We pray that by Your mercy, compassion, and grace, that You forgive us of all our sins, the known and the unknown, and that You cleanse us from all unrighteousness. You have said to us that if we confess our sins, You are faithful and just to forgive us of our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. We pray for the continual outpouring of the Holy Spirit that we may overcome, as You also overcame, that we would sin no more. We thank You for Your plan to answer prayers if we ask in faith, and that which we ask, You will do. When we do not know what to pray, or cannot express ourselves clearly, for You praying a perfect prayer to the Father on our behalf. We thank You for being a friend to us as we journey in this life until Your great day to come. We claim Your promise that if we believe on the Lord Christ Jesus, we will be saved. Bless us and keep us, now and forever. We pray in the name of Christ Jesus. Amen.
