Prayer Is the Life of the Soul—Prayer is a necessity; for it is the life of the soul. Family prayer, public prayer, have their place; but it is secret communion with God that sustains the soul life.—(Education, 258.) {Pr 18.2}
Prayer Necessary for Spiritual Health—Several times each day precious, golden moments should be consecrated to prayer and the study of the Scriptures, if it is only to commit a text to memory, that spiritual life may exist in the soul. The varied interests of the cause furnish us with food for reflection and inspiration for our prayers. Communion with God is highly essential for spiritual health, and here only may be obtained that wisdom and correct judgment so necessary in the performance of every duty.—(Testimonies for the Church 4:459.) {Pr 18.3}
Spending time in our prayer closet is essential for a closer walk with God. As in any relationship, devoting time to another will strengthen and build a stronger bond. The way we commune with God and improve our spiritual health is through prayer. Prayer is good for the soul. It would be well for us to spend several times each day with God in prayer. God is always available to us no matter the time or place we find ourselves. Meet God in your prayer closet where you may obtain wisdom and judgement to meet the challenges of your day. Our Father in heaven,
We thank You for giving us this privilege and opportunity to come to You in prayer. It is our prayer that as we commune with You that we may draw closer to You and You draw closer to us. We struggle throughout our day with the many challenges we face. However, when we look for You in our prayer closet, You are always there to help us meet these challenges. We are so grateful for the way You make Yourself so readily available to us through prayer, our lifeline from earth to Your heavenly throne. For how You hold us up in Your right hand of power that no one can pluck us out of Your hand. That no matter how many times we come to You, You are so ever ready to hear and answer our prayers. These precious golden moments give us spiritual life in our souls and are a source of strength to us. We pray for the continual outpouring of Your Power, the oil that sustains us. For Your Spirit to abide in us, that we may abide in You. You are the vine and we are the branch, which receives life from the vine. We are so grateful for Your love, and surrender our life to You. We pray that You continue to shape us and mold us. You are the potter and we are the clay. We pray that You continue to help us be ready to help others who are unaware of Your love and Your grace. They that do not know who You are that died for them. The lamb that takes away the sin of the world. That they may by Your sacrifice have eternal life. We pray that we may help gather Your sheep into the flock. That we may always see our need for prayer and believe in thy Kingdom come. We thank You for hearing and answering our prayers. We ask all these things, in the name of Christ Jesus. Amen.
