Dear Reader.
Books / Pr - Prayer (2002) / Chapter 6—The Prayer Of Faith
Prayer Not Lost, Even if Not Answered as We Expect—The prayer of faith is never lost; but to claim that it will be always answered in the very way and for the particular thing we have expected, is presumption.—( Testimonies for the Church 1:231.) {Pr 62.3}
The Comforter Comes in Answer to the Prayer of Faith—At all times and in all places, in all sorrows and in all afflictions, when the outlook seems dark and the future perplexing, and we feel helpless and alone, the Comforter will be sent in answer to the prayer of faith. Circumstances may separate us from every earthly friend; but no circumstance, no distance, can separate us from the heavenly Comforter. Wherever we are, wherever we may go, He is always at our right hand to support, sustain, uphold, and cheer.—(The Desire of Ages, 669, 670.) {Pr 62.4}
Angels Carry Our Prayers to the Heavenly Sanctuary—Angels hear the offering of praise and the prayer of faith, and they bear the petitions to Him who ministers in the sanctuary for His people, and pleads His merits in their behalf. True prayer takes hold upon Omnipotence, and gives men the victory. Upon his knees the Christian obtains strength to resist temptation.—(The Review and Herald, February 1, 1912.) {Pr 62.5}
Expecting God to answer to you is presuming on His grace. God will hear and answer your prayer, but always in the way that is best for you. God knows the beginning from the end, so the things you cannot see, He has seen already. When you pray, pray in faith. Pray for the things you cannot see, for the things, which you see, are temporal, but the things you cannot see are eternal. When you do not know what to pray, ask Jesus who sits at the right hand of the Father in the Most Holy Place of the heavenly sanctuary to make an utterance to the Father on your behalf. Take hold on His omnipotence and receive the victory that He has already won.
Our Father, God almighty,
We come into Your presence, in faith, to present our petitions before You. We thank You for always being there for us to hear and answer our prayers. We thank You for the privilege of being in Your presence. We thank You, dear Jesus, for being our advocate to the Father and allowing us to take hold of Your omnipotence. We thank You for giving us the victory over sin when You hung on the cross at Calvary. We never want to presume on Your grace and thank You for hearing and answering our petitions in the way that is best for us. We pray for Your Spirit to continually lead and guide us in the way we should go that we may fulfill Your will for us in our lives. Please send the Comforter when we are sorrowful and perplexed in answer to our prayer of faith. You have told us that we, being evil, know how to give good gifts to our children, how much more does our heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask.
Thank You for granting us this power from on High. Where ever we are or where ever we go, may He always be at our right hand to support, sustain, uphold, and cheer us along the way. We pray to serve You as You would have us serve You out of love for You and each other. We pray that You continue to shape us and mold us to be the Christians we ought to be. Use us as Your vessels, fill us with Your oil, and may our cup runneth over to impart to those who are lost and living in darkness. We pray to receive Your character and light to reflect unto every dark corner of the world. We thank You for hearing and answering our prayers. Whatever we fail to ask we pray that You grant it unto us according to Your will. We pray in the name of Christ Jesus. Amen.
