Call to Worship

Isaiah 58:12

58:12 And [they that shall be] of thee shall build the old waste places: thou shalt raise up the foundations of many generations; and thou shalt be called, The repairer of the breach, The restorer of paths to dwell in.

Prophets and Kings 677.3

The prophet here describes a people who, in a time of general departure from truth and righteousness, are seeking to restore the principles that are the foundation of the kingdom of God. They are repairers of a breach that has been made in God’s law—the wall that He has placed around His chosen ones for their protection, and obedience to whose precepts of justice, truth, and purity is to be their perpetual safeguard. {PK 677.3}

For something to need repair, it must be broken. In this case, it is not Gods law that is broken, it is the people that have been broken, and it is by God’s law that they may be repaired. Satan prowls around seeking whom he may devour. He is the master at breaching the walls around us. When Satan comes around with his temptations, we are to have an “It is written” ready for him, that you may send him fleeing from you. We must always keep Gods Word in our hearts and minds, and keep His commandments at all times, that we may be protected by the hedge which God places around His chosen ones. Proclaiming the everlasting gospel from generation to generation to restore the path that God has set before us that leads to His heavenly kingdom.

Dear God,

We thank You for setting up a wall around us, Your hedge of protection, keeping us protected from the evils and temptations of this world. For giving us Your Word, that we may be able to keep Your Holy precepts, which is our perpetual safeguard. That we may be able to restore the principles that are the foundation of Your kingdom. For giving us the power to overcome sin, and be restorers of the breach that has been made in Your law from generation to generation, that we may be called “The repairer of the breach.” We are sorry and repent of our sins and pray for the forgiveness of our sins. Bless us we pray, in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
